Beauty of the Bush
Where it began
I have been creating art for as long as I can remember, and becoming an artist has always been a lifelong dream of mine.
The gallery name was inspired by my childhood excitement when the jacaranda trees came into bloom each year, often around my birthday.
My passion for Australia’s natural beauty began at a young age, when I travelled extensively around the country. From the car, I would often draw the animals and birds I spotted along the way. I began painting landscapes in the middle of high school, while studying the genre in visual arts class.
Behind the art
My paintings are inspired by real birds, animals and places. While some species are found only in certain regions, one of my goals is to spot every native bird in Australia. The landscapes I paint are places I have personally visited—and that you can visit too.
The Process
The process starts with going outside to see what inspiration nature has installed for me. Then I take that inspiration back with me to my studio, because oil paint takes a while to dry, I am usually working on multiple paintings at the same time.
